The Parish of the Good Shepherd, a thriving Episcopal church in Newton, seeks an enthusiastic and organized teacher for weekly children's Church School program beginning as soon as possible.

One teacher is needed for our 1st-3rd grade class. Lesson plans and activity materials are provided. Ideal applicants have experience teaching elementary-aged children, and strong commitment to and knowledge of the Christian faith. $60 per week ($21/hour for additional events). Our curriculum is based on Love First, an exciting new children’s ministry program that focuses on forming young people as followers of Christ through love of self, love of neighbor, and love of God. The position's primary responsibility is conducting a 45-minute lesson every Sunday, followed by attendance at the second-half of the church service, and a brief appearance at the subsequent coffee hour. Sunday hours are 9:30-11:30am. Other responsibilities include a brief weekly telephone check-in with the Assistant Rector and 30 minutes of at-home lesson review and preparation. Participation in special events throughout the year (e.g., Christmas Pageant, occasional evening service, etc.) will be coordinated on an event-by-event basis based on availability and will be paid hourly.

Please send a cover letter and resume to the Reverend Daniel Bell at ce@goodshepherdnewton.org.
